How Far-UVC Works for Air Cleaning

Aerolamp uses far-UVC technology for air cleaning.

Breathing in airborne pathogens is what usually makes us sick (much more often than the things we touch). Far-UVC is a special type of light that kills pathogens, especially in the air, before they make us sick.

Surface and indoor UV light-cleaning has been used for decades, but far-UVC is unique because safety studies have shown people can be in the same room while the lights are working. Unlike other UV light, such as UVB in tanning beds that can cause skin and eye damage, UV cleaning with far-UVC does not deeply penetrate human skin. This means that Aerolamp's UVC cleaning can be used in occupied rooms where it can have the biggest effect on preventing the spread of germs between contagious and uninfected (or non-contagious) people.

While remaining safe for exposure, far-UVC is still highly effective at killing pathogens like those that cause the common cold, the flu, and COVID. Researchers have shown a 99.5% reduction in coronaviruses within minutes.
